People trust firefighters, and as firefighters we've made a promise to protect the customer. As our home page mentions, we are a customer service-oriented fire department. That means that our mission, and our top priority, is to deliver the best possible service to our customers – you.
Having spent 20 years as the department's fire prevention officer, I know first hand that providing up-to-date and pertinent information to residents has always been a challenge! This Web site is being designed with you foremost in our thoughts: fire prevention is fire education and this Web site is a very important tool in our efforts to educate the public about these important issues.
The Cumberland Hill Fire Department is not alone in its public safety efforts. We are one of four fire districts in the Town of Cumberland working cooperatively with the North Cumberland, Cumberland and Valley Falls Fire Districts as well as the Cumberland Rescue Service to provide the necessary equipment and personnel to respond to your needs quickly and safely.
I couldn't be happier about the way our department has grown and evolved. I joined the Cumberland Hill Fire Department 28 years ago at the age of 16 when we responded to more brush fires than any other type of fires combined! Today, the department responds to more than 1,200 calls each year and instead of a Smokey the Bear sign in front of the station forecasting the brush fire danger, we are providing a Web site filled with useful, interesting (and even fun) information!
One thing that hasn't changed over the years is the fact that firefighters often find their customers in difficult and stressful situations. At the Cumberland Hill Fire Department, we pledge to always treat you with respect, kindness, patience and consideration.
Thanks for visiting – and come back often!
